OLD FASHIONED BEEF STEW - BREZID

OLD FASHIONED BEEF STEW

When it comes to winter comfort food, nothing quite hits the spot like a classic beef stew. It’s hearty, delicious, and packed with vegetables, making it both satisfying and easy to prepare.

Ingredients:

  • 2.2 pounds of beef stew meat
  • 1 tomato
  • 3 green peppers
  • 1 red pepper
  • Pinch of salt and pepper
  • 3 onions
  • Garlic to taste
  • 1 cup of white wine
  • A dash of ginger
  • Pinch of cinnamon
  • A sprinkle of basil
  • Olive oil

Preparation:

  1. Begin by heating olive oil in a large pot, then add garlic to infuse the oil while you chop the vegetables for the traditional beef stew.
  2. Once the beef is cubed, sear it in the hot oil until browned on all sides. Then, add in the chopped vegetables, along with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Once the vegetables begin to soften slightly, pour in the white wine and let it simmer for a few seconds over low heat to allow the alcohol to evaporate.
  4. Sprinkle in a dash of ginger for added depth to the beef broth, and season with additional salt and pepper if needed. Add basil and a pinch of cinnamon powder for extra flavor.
  5. Cover the pot and allow the stew to simmer for about 40 minutes, or until the beef is tender. Cooking time may vary based on preference, but low heat is preferred for a melt-in-your-mouth texture and enhanced flavor.
  6. Once done, serve up this comforting classic and savor every spoonful!
